Talks I Give About Orchids and Their Culture
Lecture topics are about 45 minutes each. Demonstrations and examples are done with live plants and supplies. All talks are culture based. No slides. I don’t have e-mail yet but you can call me anytime at 707-255-8266.
- The Zen of Orchids…Success and pleasure. Webster describes 'Zen' as enlightenment through introspection and intuition. I've found this to be a very rewarding method of growing and flowering orchids. I'll tell you how and why.
- What the fly on the greenhouse wall heard. I've had the privilege and pleasure over the years to be in many incredible greenhouses with growers of great experience and skill. Observing, listening and asking questions, you pick up a tip here and a theory there and the pieces of the puzzle start coming together.
- Building a great Orchid collection. Six of my favorites for the windowsill and six more for the greenhouse. I’ll tell you why I love them and how to grow them.
- Orchids…Things I wish I had known in the beginning. This is a great program for people new to growing Orchids. I’ve written the 10 rules of thumb of basic Orchid care, and have great tips for watering.
- Maxillaria and Encyclia, two of my favorite genus for windowsill or greenhouse. I’ll bring examples of each and tell you how to grow them and what I think is great about them.
- Growing Orchids, it’s not rocket science. Groucho Marx once said “We should learn from the mistakes of others. We don’t have time to make them all ourselves.” This applies very well to growing Orchids; let me tell you how and why.
