What is a Napa Valley Orchids spa treatment?

A clean, freshly potted Orchid is a happy Orchid

Repotting should be done every 2 or 3 years, not necessarily to put it in a larger pot, but to freshen the medium.

Understanding that Orchids breath through their leaves, and that spider mites love dusty leaves, are 2 very good reasons for maintaining clean leaves.

    Spa Treatment
  1. Remove Orchid from pot and gently remove all old potting medium.
  2. Submerge entire plant (roots and all) in a bath of warm soapy water. (I use a Cedarwood Mint dish soap, made from the finest, pure and mild ingredients)
  3. Gently massage the plant's leaves and roots, while thouroughly cleansing them.
  4. Rinse in clean warm water.
  5. Groom the plant. (Old roots are less effective)
  6. Custom potting involves my choice of terra cotta or plastic, large bark, small bark, perlite, charcoal, coir, coconut chips, dyna rock, lava rock, or spagnum moss.
  7. Polish the leaves with fresh lemon juice, buff dry.
  8. Make a plant tag with the Orchid's full name and date of repot.

And there you have it! The 8 steps to repotting perfection. The instant transformation is amazing and one that you and your Orchids will enjoy.

Spa repotting services start at $10 for most small Orchids that don't need dividing.
